I am a proud, fourth-generation Chinese American. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and attended Punahou School with my friend and classmate, Barack Obama! I am a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, the oldest women’s college in the United States. I received my J.D. at American University, Washington College of Law. My service in the federal government began through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Honors Program and continued at an agency known as the “Supreme Court” of immigration law where I worked on asylum cases often involving stories of sexual abuse, gang violence, and political targeting. While at the Department, I served my union, AFGE, as an elected officer and steward. My particular focus was on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) issues and disability accommodations. What I learned from all my experiences was how fundamentally resilient people are. So, in 2019, I decided to pursue life coaching as a natural extension of that insight. I received my training through the Co-active Training Institute (CTI) - the global leader in experiential coaching. Additionally, I completed Shirzad Chamine’s Positive Intelligence Program which marries the fundamentals of CTI training with neuroscience. I am a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and Institute of Coaching (IOC), McLean—an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. I coach men and women across the age spectrum and from varied professional and personal backgrounds. I also partner with college-bound high school students in writing their Common App essays and preparing for their first year of college. My goal is to provide people with a brave space to expand their self-awareness and practice curiosity, not self-criticism. I bring to my coaching general principles of mindfulness, my professional discipline in asking questions and questioning unhelpful assumptions, and the compassion of a union officer who herself brought a federal EEO complaint and helped shepherd five others through the same process.
